Italy is one of those countries that everyone should visit at least once during their life.  The country has a long, rich history, its art and architecture are unmatched, the climate is pleasant, and its people are friendly and welcoming.

Despite the large number of tourist destinations in Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena and Milan, to name just a few), no Italian vacation could possibly be complete without a visit to the gorgeous island of Capri.  Since ancient Roman times, this beautiful little island has been a popular vacation destination.  For many reasons, Capri has captured the imagination of millions of people over thousands of years.

The island of Capri rises out of the sparkling Bay of Naples like a jewel emerging from the water.  Not far from Sorrento, it occupies an ideal position for people taking a Capri vacation:  close enough to Naples to be easily accessible, but far enough away to be isolated from the typical Neapolitan hustle and bustle.

Two towns sit on the island – Capri is down below, with Anacapri perched on the side of Mount Solaro, near the highest part of the island.  A narrow, tightly twisting road connects the two villages.  The island’s location means you could stay on the Amalfi Coast, in Naples, or in Sorrento while you’re on your Capri vacation, but why not stay at one of the fine Anacapri hotels instead?  That way you’d be right at the heart of some of the most gorgeous views in the world.

The island of Capri, and especially Anacapri, is a hot spot with international jet-setters and celebrities.  Some of the richest, most famous people in the world hang out on the island of Capri.  While they’re on their Capri vacation, some spend most of their time in the village down below, but others stay in Anacapri hotels.

There are plenty of things to see and do on the island.  You can wander the village streets, sample delicious Neapolitan food, shop, and marvel at the buildings clinging to the mountainside.  But the scenery is always the main attraction for people on a Capri vacation.  The panoramic views of the Bay of Naples you get from the top of Mount Solaro (up the 12-minute chair lift from Anacapri) are some of the most exquisite in the world.  Those views alone are enough to pick one of the Anacapri hotels for your accommodation on the island.  And we haven’t even mentioned the world-famous Blue Grotto!

Anacapri hotels are opulent but tend to be less expensive than the hotels in the village of Capri.  They’re also a little quieter, a little calmer, and a little less crowded than the hotels at the bottom of the hill.  You’ll be surrounded by the lap of luxury if you stay in Anacapri and you’ll have plenty of hotel choices.  Plus, you never know, you might run into one of those celebrities!
